White-sand beaches
For an enjoyable and frugal activity, be sure and visit the beach. Twenty-six miles of powdery white-sand beaches and the Gulf of Mexico beckon visitors and locals alike to bask in the sun, wade, swim, fish, or just savor the fresh gulf breezes while treasure hunting for items that the tide may have washed ashore. The boardwalk, currently in initial stages of reconstruction provides a great venue for walking, cycling,or simply sitting and people watching in a paradise by the gulf.
History
Art and history's roots run deep in Mississippi's Gulf Coast. George E.
Ohr, the renowned "Mad Potter", was native to Biloxi. His unique
pottery is noted throughout the art world. Beauvoir, the Jefferson
Davis Home & Presidential Library is also located in Biloxi and will reopen after extensive renovations in summer of 2008.
Gulfport is home to CEC & Seabee Memorial Museum.
Family Attractions
Mississippi's Gulf Coast hosts plentiful family attractions. The
fun-filled Lynn Meadows Discovery Center, which was selected as one of
the USA's top 50 children's museums, offers hands-on fun where children
can crank a crane, touch a tornado, sort seafood, and a myriad of other
fun-filled amusements.
Shopping
If shopping is on your itinerary, you've come to the right place.
Edgewater Mall and Edgewater Village feature a mix of department stores
and specialty boutiques. Prime Outlets in Gulfport offers over 80
famous, brand name stores offering outlet prices. Crossroads Mall has
over 600,000 square feet of shopping. Throughout Harrison County, there
are numerous charming specialty boutiques and antiques stores. For
those who are searching for unique items, both Gulfport and Pass
Christian have a couple of flea markets.
Festivals
If there's a seafood, we have a festival for it: the Crawfish Festival, the Seafood Festival, the Crab Festival,the Shrimp Festival, the Oyster Festival..locals say that the Mississippi Gulf Coast has a celebration for
