| Walter Anderson wrote in one of his many
logs, "Birds are holes in heaven through which man may pass." In this
exhibition, Anderson 's devotion to and fascination with the many
reginal and migratory birds of flights and waterfowl in the Gulf Coast
region is displayed. From the wandering estuaries to the open beaches,
the remote aeries to the clear blue sky, Anderson spend hours in teh
company of Pelicans, Coots, Gallinules, and Dogris painting luminous
watercolors. The brilliant plumage of the waterfowl and symphonic
symmetry of the birds in flight inspired Anderson's transcendent
depictions of these creatures of the air and moved him to suggest that
watching the bireds makes man "almost as wonderful as the thing he
sees."
